We wrote a post earlier this fall describing the difficult stretch of ailments our entire family was going through. That period of time was when we fell off the blog train. We survived and were pretty healthy through the winter until last week.
It appears that our family responds to the changing seasons in our own unique way. We try and get a sick as possible, all at the same time. So here is what we went through in the fall........
It has been a rough six of weeks here on Glenmere.
It all started a couple of weeks ago with Oren and a nasty cough that he picked up at school. After a full week with a high temperature and nasty cough, he was diagnosed with the Croup - which turned into a bronchitis. He was is pretty rough shape and stayed home from school for a week and a half, even missing his pre-school Halloween party :(
Of course you know that when a kid is that sick, it is bound to snag someone else.....Rosemary. She began with the same rough cough and fever. As we were dishing out the meds and on the mend, we found out that grandma boyer was diagnosed with pneumonia (she had watched Oren a few of the days he was home sick). It has hit her pretty hard - even spending a night at the ER. The kids began to regress and so we took them back to the doctor - pneumonia for both! That same day Todd went into the doctor after staying home for a few days - guess what - that's right, pneumonia as well.
Sara was the only one to escape.....well she did enjoy an upper respiratory infection. We believe the kids are over the pneumonia, while Todd is on his 3rd week of battling pneumonia.
We can't believe that we will be excited to see fall go this year - as long as winter brings us some relief. Wish us luck....
Now that Spring is here it is time for us to fall victim to the changing seasons in Boyer fashion. Last week Oren was home sick with the 100-103 fever all week and a terrible cough that would not relent. We were very nervous because it was flashbacks to when he developed pneumonia in the spring. He visited the doctors twice with not much luck. He was diagnosed with bronchitis and we were sent home to deal with it. Of course it developed into pneumonia.rrrrrrr. So another trip to the hospital for xrays and finally real medicine for relief. After a couple of days on meds he is on the mend and finally back at school getting stronger every day.
RRB was great during Oren's battle but she is now sharing in his misery. She began to develop signs of pneumonia but luckily we were able to pry meds out of our doctor enabling us to be proactive vs. reactive with Rosey. She is recovering quickly which is lucky. Of course both Mom and Dad have been battling the colds from the kids and Dad has been very cautious not to let his cold develop into pneumonia again.
I wonder what the transition to summer will hold for us.....
